Made it to Pennsylvania! And the temple!

Newark, New Castle, now West Chester, PA!

Hello family and friends!!
Amazing week this week!!

On Monday there was this huge storm that took out all of the traffic
lights and even the power of some stores/resteraunts. Our power kept
going on and off! And Monday night we were just chillin in our
apartment and the power went out for like an hour and a half and it
was so dark!!

Tuesday was mid transfer day! Cleaned the apartment, packed. We went
to Broomall, where the mission office is and I found out I was going
to West Chester, PA with Sister Van Arsdale! Also Sister Ashcraft and
Sister Nielson are also in the same apartment. Sister Van Arsdale and
Ashcraft were my sister training leaders and Sister Nielson is their
golden! And we share a ward with the elders haha. Lots of missionaries
in one ward! Afterwards we got wawa I think. We went to our
apartment/house (we live in somebody's basement) I unpacked. Me and
Sister Van Arsdale ate dinner at a members house. We got one more bed
in our room from the service elders!

Wednesday we went to philly!! The temple is beautiful! We had training
for the temple open house! We practiced the talking points a ton! (I
am a professional now jk) I am a part of the afternoon shift. It is so
fun to see all of the sisters!!
We also don't ever have to go to district meetings or zone trainings
for the whole time we are doing to the temple open house which is
kinda sad. I found out that one of my zone leaders is my mission dad!
(Elder Jolley, first district leader) oh I also get to see one of my
mission moms everyday!! (Sister Blake, trainer)

Thursday was another day of training and practicing! Afterwards we did
a lot of tracting and stop bys and invited a bunch of people to the
temple open house. People in West Chester, PA are so much nicer than
in Newark, Delaware! Haha. I do got to say though, I am not a huge fan
of humidity.. Yuck. You get so hot and wet. We met a lady who we
thought was less active but she's not. She was super nice. Her husband
is not a member but we didn't get to meet him because he was putting
the kids to bed.

Friday after studies we went to visit a referral from the elders in
downing town to offer service but she wasn'tinterested in all.. We
invited more people to the temple. I think it was Friday when we met
this Chinese guy who was super interested and wanted to check out our
church but said he couldn't come this Sunday but he will come next
Sunday! He told us we can email him and set up a time to meet with
him! We met a lot of people that were interested! Friday the
neighborhood tours started! Me and Sister Van Arsdale got put in the
plaza area (front of the temple) we didn't really know what we were
doing at first haha. We did get rotated into the reception area where
the people who just had a tour come in and we answer questions for
them and stuff. Then we went outside again and we got pass along cards
and we were handing them out to people walking by. So many awesome
people! Either Friday or Saturday we invited this guy on the street
and he was like no thanks and then he walked away and one of the
ushers stopped him again and he actually turned around and went inside
the church to take a tour!! How awesome is that!! Friday night we got
to take a tour inside the temple!! It was absolutely breathtaking! I
cried! Not to brag but, this mission is the best mission ever haha.

Saturday was the construction workers tours and we invited some people
on the streets and they would just walk in and take a tour!! Being out
in the front of the temple was seriously the best! We saw so many
miracles from it. I saw some people from Newark volunteering! We have
a rule where we can't hug so that was hard, we just give  everyone
handshakes. We worked in the reception area and also the rooftop too.
We saw a girl that we invited on Friday bring her family to the
temple! Me feet and lower back were hurting so bad but it was so worth
it! haha.
So many people here have either visited Henderson or have family
living in Henderson. It is so crazy.

Sunday was the best ever. Missionaries got to bring their
investigators to the temple for a tour! I saw so many missionaries
that I knew from the past! Also their was more missions that got to
come as well. So, lots of missionaries! It was seriously the best. We
had some investigators from West Chester so we got to go on a tour
again! Me and Sister Van Arsdale got to be in the video room and we
did 6 groups! It was so much fun! We are pro's ;) we ate two cookies
for our dinner because we forgot to take our dinner break... haha.
Pictures are going to come soon!!
I'm running out of things to say .. Haha

I love you all!!

Trio of the New Castle Ward!

Hi family and friends!

Alright, where to begin! Get ready for another crazy week haha. There
is going to be more of those! 😂

Monday, we thought we would get our assigned companions back.. Sister
Randell called us and told us that me and Sister Lythgoe will be
together for a few more days.. Okay dokey!
So, Sister Roberts and Sister Abbott did my laundry I had there at my
apartment for me and we did the laundry we had here (the new castle
apartment has a washer and dryer!) got the car washed, emailed. I
don't remember what else happened.. haha.

Tuesday we actually did some missionary work! 😂 it was a good day! We
had a lesson with a mother and daughter and talked about their
beliefs. Went over the restoration. They accepted baptism! The mom
mentioned she was already baptized into another religion..
Their fridge wasn't working so they had two coolers with stuff inside
so we went with the member that took us, to wawa and got some ice for
them and she bought wawa for us!
We visited a lot of less actives and got into some houses and talked with them.
We ate dinner at the Givens. They fed us pizza and cookies. Then
afterwards we had a lesson with them. We read 2 Nephi 31 with them. We
committed them to make their own commitment. We also told them that
elders will be coming into the ward when we leave and Brother Given
said no.. awkward.

Wednesday the new castle sisters STLs (Sister Blake and Sister
Schettler) met us somewhere to go on exchanges. I went with Sister
Blake to Vineland, NJ! It was so fun to be with Sister Blake again! We
stopped by some people. Not a lot of people were home. We did have a
lesson with this cute family with like 7 kids. We had to simplify the
restoration haha. I've never really taught little kids before so it
was really interesting. We had dinner at a lady's house and she fed us
fish! 😊 Sister Schettler and Sister Lythgoe went to pick up Sister
Abbott and Sister Roberts went with the West Chester Sisters.
Oh and also, the assistants to the president called and told me that
my area book is going to be switched to the new castle ward and the
zone leaders will be taking over the Newark 3rd ward.
And then after that the zone leaders called and said "hi Sister
Gronning, we are sure you know what is going on with sister Roberts."
I said "no, actually I don't, I'm kinda out of the loop" and they said
"oh, well, sister Roberts is most likely going home on Friday" what..
After wards when we hung up, I cried.

Thursday morning I came back to New Castle, DE. We had district
meeting in the Newark district. Fun.. haha. Everyone asked about
Sister Roberts. Afterwards we drove to the Wilmington church building
for interviews with president! He was running out of time so he met
with the three of us and then had to reschedule with the bay view
sisters. He gave me permission to call Sister Randell and say goodbye
to Sister Roberts 😞 she told me she was leaving that day. She was
going to meet her dad at the airport and them fly home with him. None
of the doctors knew what was going on. Hopefully the doctors in
Arizona can help her so she can come back out! We went to my apartment
and packed up my clothes and everything. Man, I have a lot of stuff 😂
Sister Roberts left a bunch of stuff too so we put everything in big
black garbage bags and took it to Sister Owens. She was sad that
Sister Roberts was going home but she knew it was best for her to go
home and get the treatment that she needed. We ate dinner at the
lameoreauxs

Friday we went to my apartment and cleaned out everything. We had so
much food it was ridiculous. We gave most of it to the zone leaders.
We had to exchange cars because the new castle car is tight on miles
and the Newark car hasn't been used in like a week so we grabbed the
newark car and so we had two cars here in the new castle apartment
parking lot haha. We ate dinner with bishop and his wife.

Saturday we contacted a referral. We gave him a bible and a Book of
Mormon. He said he was going back to Liberia in two weeks. But he said
he will read both books. We also gave him a temple invite. Ate dinner
at the palmers. Really good homemade pizza things and brownies!
Had an awesome lesson with Brother Early. He is going to try the stop
smoking program that the missionaries teach. We are going to start it
with him tonight! I've never done this yet on my mission!

Sunday, church in the new castle ward again. People in Newark 3rd were
confused. They announced that the sisters were gone so they thought
that we went up to Philly for the temple already haha. We helped teach
the relief society lesson on bringing less actives back to church.
Brother Early sadly didn't come to church! We had the Newark 1st
elders come to our sacrament and meet people, they actually came to
all 3 hours!
During the 2nd hour we saw the assistants at the relief society door
and they were talking us to come her so we went out and they told us
they needed to take one of our cars up to Broomall right now. We were
like um what. We grabbed the other elders and walked to the cars
together and it was funny because there was so many missionaries haha.
We had a bunch of food from the new castle apartment we were giving to
the Newark 1st elders so we had to get that out of our car and
everything! Crazy. We had to get a member to take us home. So now we
have one car. And there is no way we can fit all of our suitcases into
one car so we have a member helping us take all of our luggage to PA
haha. Also, it was one of the zone leaders birthday on Sunday and we
gave him and his companion Martinelli drinks and he was so excited
hahaha.
We visited a family with sister lameoreaux and then had dinner with
the eshelwecks.

Tomorrow we go to Broomall, PA and we find out where we are going!!

So one day at dinner I mentioned that I am always thirsty and the
member said "you are a desert rat that's why!" 😂  I thought it was
pretty funny.

Happy Birthday tomorrow to my brother!!!!
I hope everyone has a great week!!! Mine is going to be crazy once again hahaha
Love, Sister Gronning

My two moms! I love them!

Hosptial. Companions. What?

Hi family and friends!
Crazy week once again.. Get ready for another REALLY long one.

So, Monday night Sister Roberts wasn't feeling well enough to go to
dinner and fireworks so Sister Owens and her dropped me off at the
Romish-Mui fam. I ate dinner with them and some other people they
invited. (It was weird not being with my companion ...) during dinner
it was pouring rain and so they were trying to find out if the
fireworks were still happening and they found online that some of them
were cancelled but the one that we were planning on going to was still
going to happen. So we went to Hokison and pulled up into a parking
lot and got inside the back of their car with the mom and their
daughter and sat and watched fireworks in the rain! Then afterwards we
went to this place called Woodside farms and got ice cream. I got two
containers and brought them to our apartment for Sister Roberts and I.

Tuesday came around and we got up and exercised (I don't remember if
sister Roberts did her exercise or not..) had our studies and then
went outside and walked to the leasing office and talked to the lady
at the desk about our apartment and what to do about some things. She
was super funny and nice. She started talking about marriage and
giving us dating and marriage advice ... Awkward. Before we went there
though we saw a lady sitting on a bench and we went and talked to her
and her name was Natalie and I realized I had met her before at the
pats pizza parking lot. She was telling us about her health problems
and stuff. Said a prayer with her. After we talked to the lady at the
leasing office, we went to visit Sister Brotman and talked to her for
forever (she loves to talk) then after tried to visit a potential. We
got back to our car and headed home. Sister Roberts wasn't feeling
well. She layed down and her eyes started to shake and roll back into
her heard again like before. "Oh great" I thought to myself. I called
Sister Owens and told her and she came to our apartment (which is not
allowed..) she came with her granddaughter Ashley. We sat on the floor
and watched Sister Roberts. Sister Owens took her blood sugar or
something and I guess it was low (it ended up being perfectly fine..)
I called the mission medical doctor. Dr Martinez. I told him what was
going on and he told me to take her to a urgent care... So, we did. It
ended up being a different one than the one we went to last time. She
got in and layed down and her eyes started doing it again. The nurses
saw and they said they were going to call 911 and get her to a
hospital because they thought she was having seizures. So, the
ambulance came, I rode with Sister Owens and Ashley. Got to the
emergency room. They took her to the hallway and there we were,
sitting in the hallway for hours and hours waiting for the nurses or
doctor or whatever to take her into a room. Exactly one week after we
took her to the hospital last week.. Sister Roberts was hating it. She
said something like "hate is not in my vocabulary, I don't believe in
the word hate, but I hate this place" it was pretty funny. But
seriously, they were so slow. It was the day after a holiday so they
were super busy. They need more doctors in there or something. Geez.
Tuesday night we finally got into a room. And I honestly don't even
remember what happened after that.. But the zone leaders showed up and
literally stayed at the hospital till like 2:45 in the morning. Not
even kidding. They were so tired and out of it and it was cracking me
up. They were saying the most randomest funniest things. Sister Owens
stayed there all night too! Bless her heart! We did end up going into
another room and I stayed the night in the hospital with Sister
Roberts and so I put two chairs together and sat on one and then put
my feet up on the other one and they gave me a pillow and blanket. Not
the most comfiest thing ever haha. I didn't sleep that well that
night...

Wednesday morning came and they scheduled an eeg or something at 9:15
but of course they didn't take her in to do that till like almost 11.
They put some sticky stuff and wire thingys on her head and was
looking at her brain. I don't even know. They didn't even catch her
having a seizure thing because the lady kept telling her to open her
eyes and close them and what not. Eventually our STL's got a member to
drive them over to the hospital. Sister Ashcraft stayed there with
Sister Roberts (they have a trio so Sister Van-Arsdale and Sister
Nielson stayed together) and then I went to Sister Owens house to get
some rest because I needed it! Haha. On our way to their house we went
to our apartment and I got clothes and some things for Sister Roberts
and then we stopped at pats pizza and got pizza and we ordered one
with bacon on it and one with pepperoni and oh my goodness, it was soo
good. Seriously. I love bacon. We got to the house and I fell asleep.
Then Sister Randall called and told me that the new castle sisters
were going to pick me up and take me to their apartment so I can get
some rest there. So I am like, alright, whatever haha. They pick me up
(Sister Lythgoe and Sister Abbott) stayed the night at their
apartment.

Thursday we had to go to zone training. Guess who was there?!? SISTER
BLAKE!! my mission mom!!!! I was so excited to see her!! She asked how
I was doing and I started crying! The elders were looking at me like
what the heck haha. They were shaking my hand and I was just wiping
tears off of my face. No big deal. Haha. Zone training was great. The
sisters had to recite the temple talking points in front of the whole
zone! The elders were pointing out some things we did well and things
we needed to improve on. We were switching off with each point with
our companions and so since my companion wasn't with me, Sister Blake
was my companion and we did it the first time and this one elder gave
us a 10 and said we did a great job haha. We each did it twice. I
kinda messed up on the 2nd try haha. It was so awkward. The elders
were trying to change the wording and were like no, you can't do that
elders!
After the meeting, Sister Blake wanted to eat lunch with all of us so,
me, Sister Lythgoe, Sister Abbott, Sister Blake, Sister Schettler,
Sister Rash, and Sister Burrell went to go eat and we decided to go to
chick fil a. The elders said they were going to chick fil a as well.
We went and we were looking for the elders car and didn't see them and
so we were like oh good they must have went to a different one! (The
elders and sisters aren't allowed to eat out with each other) we
ordered our food and ate and we were sitting and talking and Sister
Lythgoe was facing the door and her jaw drops and she says "oh my
gosh. Don't turn around!" So of course I looked behind me and guess
who it was?! THE ELDERS!!! we started laughing so hard and we were
freaking out!! hahahaha. It was the funniest thing ever. They didn't
even do anything haha. We left and one of the workers said to us "I
asked the boys why they are sitting over here and the girls are
sitting over there and they just shrugged their shoulders and said
they don't know!" What?! okay elders .... haha.
We had a lesson with one of the new castles less active members and
she thought the word of wisdom was an exception for her because of her
health problems..... alrighty then..
Thursday night Sister Abbott switched Sister Ashcraft at the hospital
so now it was me, Sister Lythgoe, and Sister Ashcraft as a trio!

Friday came. SISTER ROBERTS GOT RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL! Thursday
night they put the eeg on her head again to monitor it for 24 hours (I
actually don't remember what night that was...) they caught like 15
seizure things. The machine didn't recognize them as seizures
though... They don't even know what it is or what is causing them. At
first they said stress and anxiety. But since they didn't come back as
seizures they didn't give her any medication. We left without any
answers.. Again, we hate the hospital and never want to come back!
haha.
While she was still in the hospital, a member from our ward called
them and told them she needs help and told them pretty much everything
that is going on in her life right now. She is bipolar. They called us
and the three of us went to her apartment and she was moving out so we
put everything in boxes for her. (The elders told us about her at zone
training because they ran into her when they had to go to our
apartment and get our phone charger) the elders called and the member
wanted to talk to them and she ripped on them about telling us when
they promised her they wouldn't tell anyone. We grabbed the phone from
her and told her we were going to leave. She then started to yell at
us as well. It was crazy. It was really sad to hear her talking to the
elders like that.
Sister Abbott stayed with Sister Roberts in Newark and I went with
Sister Lythgoe to new castle. We visited some people. Found out that
someone they thought was baptized, is not haha. New investigator!

Saturday we did some stop bys with potentials and less actives. We met
some nice people on the streets. Had some lessons with some less
actives. We had dinner with this family from the Philippines and the
mom was cracking me up. She gave us these mangos and me and Sister
Lythgoe didn't know how to cut them so Sister Martinez starts laughing
so hard and grabs the mango and knife from me and starts cutting it.
She thought everything was funny and her laugh was cracking me and
Sister Lythgoe up. My mouth was hurting! After we shared a message
with them, Sister Martinez looks very close to my name tag and says
"Sister Gronning, I love you" it was so cute. She has a very strong
accent!
The District Leader called, Elder Wilde. And he was like "Sister
Gronning, where are you from?" I said "Nevada" and he said "oh, Nevada
like as in Colorado?" I was like "um no.." And then he said "oh wait,
Nevada as in Reno and Las Vegas" it was so funny.
Sunday I went to the new castle ward with Sister Lythgoe and everyone
thought I was new in the ward and I was just like "no, I am actually
serving in the Newark 3rd ward. I'm just with her for the weekend"
people were very confused haha. Sister Lythgoe gave a talk (Sister
Abbott was supposed to talk ..) and we taught young woman's. I just
winged it. It was fun though haha.
That night we went with a member to visit a less active member in the
ward and then we visited another less active again.
Now it is Monday and I am still with Sister Lythgoe in New Castle!
I hope everyone gets a free slurpee today from 7-11! I want one... haha

Let's hope this week there will be no more hospital visits! And
hopefully I can get my companion back!

Oh and also, we are leaving July 19th to go to the temple! Tours start
the 22nd! Ahh.

Funny video!

Fourth of July!

Drink Water!

Happy 4th of July everyone!

What a week!
So, Monday night Sister Roberts started to not feel very well. We were
in an apartment complex and had to sit down on the steps. She was
saying her head hurt really bad. Her eyes started shaking and rolling
back into her head. I called our mission nurse and she told me to take
her to the urgent care. So, my first time driving in like 4 months..
That was scary 😂 I was scaring Sister Roberts too lol. We made it to
the urgent care and they gave her some type of medicine and told me if
she got worse then take her to the hospital. That night I could not
sleep.
Then Tuesday came. I did my exercise. Sister Roberts tried to
exercise. We had our studies. She laid down. Her chest started
hurting really bad. Her head was killing her. She started crying
really hard. I was so scared. I called Sister Owens and she came over
to our apartment. I called the zone leaders and they came over and
gave her a blessing and then Sister Owens told Elder Drake to call the
ambulance so he did. The ambulance arrived and I got to ride in the
front seat. Never thought I would have that experience on my mission..
We arrived to the hospital. The Elders called the APs and they arrived
with the new mission president and his wife. That was the first time
we met them. In the emergency room.. Awesome first impression... 😂
We were in the hospital for like 9 and a half hours! We arrived at
like around 1:00 and didn't leave until like 10:30pm. Cancelled our
dinner appointment. They were so slow. I stayed with sister Roberts
pretty much the whole time with either Sister Randall or Sister Owens.
I did go out into the waiting room and talked to the elders. The APs
brought me and Sister Owens some chick fil a. Sister Roberts had to
get blood work done and a cat scan. Everything came back normal. They
came to the conclusion that she had heat exhaustion!! DRINK WATER
EVERYONE!!!
The new mission president and his wife are awesome! I seriously love
them so much. They brought 3 of their 6 kids with them and they are so
cute. They left them at the house while they were at the hospital with
us. Sister Owens stayed at the hospital with us the whole time!!
The New Castle ward sisters showed up at the hospital and took us to
their apartment and we spent the night there with them.
Wednesday we stayed in our apartment all day and slept. Haha. We went
to Sister Owens house and we took her to get frozen yogurt.
Thursday we went to district meeting. Probably not the best idea haha.
Slept all day. Me and Sister Owens went to a lesson with Linda Harms
while Sister Roberts stayed at her house with her granddaughter,
Ashley. Then after that we stayed at the Owens house and had dinner
and then went home for the rest of the night.
Friday we had a little zone conference and met President and Sister
Randall's kids. Afterwards we went to the Owens house again all day.
Slept.
Saturday I went with Sister Ennis to see a less active member who is
moving to Maryland. Slept all day at the Owens house haha.
Sunday, Randell came to church!!! We left during Sunday school because
sister Roberts wasn't feeling well. Slept all day that day too haha.
Me and sister Owens had an awesome lesson with Raymond!! I am so
excited for his baptism on July 17th!
Today we went to a multi ward 4th of July breakfast at our church. We
went to Walmart and got groceries. Got our car washed. Now eating at
Friendlys with Sister Owens. Tonight I am going to dinner at a members
house and then get to watch fireworks and eat ice cream!
Get ready for some pictures!
I hope everyone has a great 4th of July today!!!
Oh! So Sister Roberts and I are leaving this area to go closer to the
temple on July 19th!
